Finnish Defence Forces awards KNL EUR 6.5 million CNHF radio contract

The Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) have placed an order with KNL for CNHF radios, a defense communications company owned by Telenor Group. The value of the order is approximately EUR 6.5 million. Deliveries are scheduled to begin immediately following contract execution. The order supports continued growth in KNL’s defence communications business and further expands the deployment of its Cognitive Networked HF technology within the Finnish Defence Forces.

The ordered CNHF systems provide a unified communications architecture spanning fixed sites, vehicle platforms and dismounted units. The shared cognitive waveform and common user interface enable seamless interoperability, simplify training and logistics, and provide resilient beyond-line-of-sight communications without reliance on external infrastructure or GNSS.

“We greatly value the continued trust the Finnish Defence Forces have placed in KNL and our technology. This order reflects our shared commitment to delivering resilient communications capabilities that meet evolving operational requirements while strengthening Nordic defence cooperation”, said Toni Lindén, CEO of KNL.

This marks the third order received from the FDF.  In August 2025, the FDF and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) placed the first joint order worth EUR 15 million for KNL’s Cognitive Networked HF (CNHF) Manpack radios. This was followed by a further EUR 2 million order from the FDF in November 2025 for KNL’s CNHF radios, software and maintenance services.
