Modern defence and security operations depend on communications that remain operational even when existing communications infrastructure is unavailable or unreliable. KNL’s technology is addressing this critical operational need for defence and security customers.
KNL’s Cognitive Networked HF radios form part of a wider communications solution. They enable users to create independent communication networks ranging from a few kilometres to thousands of kilometres, while seamlessly integrating into broader C5ISR environments through standard interfaces and interoperable system architectures, strengthening overall system performance and resilience.
“For customers, this means adding a resilient, infrastructure-independent communications layer to a broader operational system. It supports sovereignty, continuity and interoperability in situations where other networks are degraded, denied or unavailable,” says Toni Lindén, CEO at KNL.
KNL’s 2025 results reflect growing demand for resilient defence communications solutions and show how years of focused technology and product development are now translating into strong business performance. KNL increased its revenue while significantly improving its profitability. The results mark a significant step forward in KNL’s growth journey.

KNL increased revenue from EUR 6.8 million to EUR 19.6 million, while delivering 37% EBIT (EUR 7.3 million).
“2025 was a defining year for KNL. Our results show that we are not only growing commercially, but that our technology is addressing a critical operational need for defence and security customers,” says Lindén. “For our customers and partners, this performance is proof of strength, trust and long-term capability.”
The strong result is based on the genuine customer value delivered by KNL’s professionals in a growing market
KNL’s strong results did not happen by chance. By listening carefully to customers wishes and needs, KNL has been able to focus on developing relevant capabilities and building a committed team around a shared mission. KNL’s growth shows that its technology is meeting a real and growing market need. This progress is also reflected in the wider defence market. In 2025, KNL signed two major framework agreements that enabled strong growth.
KNL has signed a framework agreement with the FDF (Finnish Defence Forces) and the FMV (Swedish Defence Materiel Administration) under Nordic Defence Cooperation, covering CNHF long-range communications systems in Finland and Sweden. The framework term is from 2025 to 2035 and was the first tactical communications and command and control systems agreement under the NORDEFCO framework.
In August 2025, the FDF and FMV also placed orders worth EUR 15 million under the framework agreement, further highlighting the role of CNHF technology in Nordic defence communications.
KNL is set to continue growing and aims to be the market leader
KNL is now focusing on increasing its market share as a pioneer in modern HF radio technology.
“We want to stay one step ahead in the development of HF communications technology. We have a realistic opportunity to increase our market share and challenging the industry leaders,” says Lindén.
The foundation for achieving these goals is strong, as competitive technology, a growing organisation and achieved financial results support long-term development. KNL is part of Telenor, which also enable further investment in technology, delivery capabilities, and customer support.
