KNL was established in 2011 to build a safer, connected world. When KNL was established, the first company name was Kyynel and it was a tribute to the radio that was one of the Finnish innovations in World War II. Read more here.
What is the ownership of KNL?
KNL was acquired by Telenor Maritime Oy in 2020 and initially integrated into Telenor Maritime AS, where the maritime communications business was the primary focus. In early 2023, it was strategically carved out as a standalone business unit to better serve global defence customers with dedicated connectivity solutions. Read more here.
What does KNL stand for?
When KNL was established, the first company name was Kyynel and it was a tribute to the radio that was one of the Finnish innovations in World War II. The original Kyynelradio used similar technology as we do in our radios. The Finnish word in the radio’s name means “teardrop”, and KNL is an abbreviation of that word. Read more here.
